Futures point to a higher open on Thursday morning as a Santa Claus rally continues to set-up a coming sell-off?

Dow futures are UP +0.13% (+38 points), S&P futures are UP +0.18% (+7 points) and NASDAQ futures are UP +0.17% (+15 points)

 

Futures pointed to a higher open on Thursday morning, adding to a record-setting rally in the year-end.

Most European markets are closed;

Asia Pacific stocks edged higher on Thursday, as markets in Australia and Hong Kong remained closed a day after the Christmas holiday.

Data Docket: The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances increased to 3.99% from 3.98% for loans with a 20% down payment. Applications to refinance a home loan fell 5% from the previous week but were still 128% higher than the same week one year ago, when rates were 87 basis points higher.

 

Henry’omics:

In a shortened Christmas week, sporadic trading will occur as many remain home or travel bound or just complacent enjoying family and down time.

  • The IBB closed up +0.58% while and XBI closed up +0.75%;
  • The range of the 27 upside was +0.28% (MDXG) to +23.98% (AGTC) while the 10 downside ranged from -0.02% (BOLD) to -4.11% (CLBS); 
  • 5 out of the 27 upside had higher than the 3 month average volume;
  • 2 out of the 10 downside had higher than the 3 month average volume;

  • November registered 1 holiday, 12 positive and 8 negative close;
  • October registered 10 positive, 1 neutral and 14 negative closes;
