Oversold pumped to a positive equivalence and then chain sawed!

I say today what others won't, so you can do what others can't - access insight into sector sentiment and share pricing.

I also mine and organize opinions from heterogeneous information sources that could be very useful for investors!  Opinion extraction, summarization and tracking are three important techniques for monitoring and understanding sentiment.

U.S. stocks traded more than 1% lower Friday, pressured by a continued decline in oil prices and soft reports on the health of the consumer.

The NASDAQ closed DOWN -77.20 or -1.54% to 4,927.88 and the DOW or -182.26 or -1.04% to 17,265.81.

Henry’omics:

The stem, cell and gene therapy RegMed sector opened negative and flipped positive (of 43 covered companies) to close in negative territory!

  • The NASDAQ composite fell more than 1% with the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was one of the few advancers in Friday's session, trading more than 1% higher as the close approached.

The NASDAQ fell below the psychologically key level of 5,000 for the first time in intraday trade since Oct. 23. The index has not closed below that level since Oct. 22 and is the only major average still positive year-to-date.

  • The major indexes pared losses slightly in midday trade before holding lower.

My fear gauge – The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) closed Friday above 20 after Thursday’s near 17 following Wednesday’s near 16 having barely moved on Tuesday to near 15 from Monday’s below 15 following Friday’s above 16.
