

Verastem, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, focuses on discovering and developing proprietary small molecule drugs targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) with companion diagnostics. Its programs target the Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) and the PI3K/mTOR signaling pathways. The companys lead FAK inhibitor, VS-6063, is in Phase I/Ib testing in ovarian cancer, as well as developing for the treatment of mesothelioma and breast cancer. It is also developing FAK inhibitor VS-4718 and PI3K/mTOR inhibitor VS-5584 in patients with advanced cancers. The companys product candidates target CSCs that have been implicated in aggressive cancers, metastasis, and chemotherapeutic resistance. Verastem, Inc. was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
